Former Ghanaian international, Kevin-Prince Boateng, has finally set the record straight on speculations about La Liga champions, Barcelona keeping him on permanent deal after his loan expired.
The journeyed-man confirmed that he would not be continuing with Messi and co. next season, in a heartfelt departure note sent to the club and their fans thanking them for ‘one of the most exciting experiences’ of his career.
Boateng will now return to Serie A side, Sassuolo, where he was snapped up on loan by Barcelona in January this year.
It had been suggested that the former AC Milan player might want to stay in Spain as his loan agreement dictated that Barcelona had an option of securing him on a permanent basis for a fee €8m.
However, after recording no goals and assists in his four appearances at Camp Nou, Barcelona are happy to have him return to his mother-club.
‘Today ends one of the most exciting experiences of my career,’ Boateng wrote on Tuesday. ‘I thank every person who made this possible.
‘I thank my teammates who made me feel at home from day one, champions and great people.
‘I thank all the management, available and always present.
‘A special thought goes to all the fans: I will always carry you in my heart.
I wanted to give something more, but I did my best in every minute that was given to me to honour this fantastic shirt!’
