Manchester United have reportedly rejected an offer from Paris Saint-Germain to swap France midfielder, Paul Pogba for their want-away forward Neymar Jr.
Pogba’s desire to leave Old Trafford this summer is no secret after he recently revealed that ‘it could be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else,’ with both Real Madrid and Juventus hoping to land the 26-year-old.
Neymar on the other hand has reportedly told the French giants that he would not play for them anymore, as rumors linking him with a move back to Barcelona spiral on.
But in an interesting twist, The Independent reports that PSG approached United about a direct swap deal for the players;and that United turned down the offer believing Neymar would be too extravagant for them.
It is claimed that although United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, is looking for another marquee signing this summer, Neymar’s £900,000-a-week in wages would be a major concern for the club who are so bent on keeping Pogba.
Neymar though seems to have his heart set on a return to Barcelona, though, with Spanish media claiming he is willing to make a public apology to Barca supporters in a bid to secure his return to the Nou Camp this summer.
He is hoping to leave Paris Saint-Germain in this transfer window, just two years after he swapped Barcelona for the French capital in a world-record £198million move.
