Spain defender, Sergio Ramos, would tie the knot with TV presenter, Pilar Rubio, on Saturday, in a ceremony expected to be attended by droves of high-profile personalities; however, his one-time team-mate of almost a decade, Cristiano Ronaldo, is surprisingly omitted from the list of guests invited to be present at his big day.
Ronaldo’s omission is reportedly as a result to a falling-out between the two players following the Portuguese’s decision to quit Real Madrid last summer in favour of a move to Italian giants, Juventus.
According to Spanish news outlet, Marca, Ramos and Rubio have sent invites out to 500 guests to take part in the occasion to be held at the iconic Catedral de Sevilla; with their union already anticipated to be a contender for ‘wedding of the year’ in Spain.
Former England and Manchester United player, David Beckham and wife Victoria are reported to be attending, likewise Ramos’ Barcelona rival, Gerard Pique with his long-term partner Shakira.
The wedding would also be graced by three of his best friends, Lucas Vázquez, Keylor Navas and Luka Modric; and would see Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane, and club president, Florentino Perez, in attendance too.
Jordi Alba, Romarey Ventura, Sergio Busquets, Raúl González, and Joaquín Sánchez are confirmed to also be present, along with the likes of Julio Baptista, Roberto Carlos, Fernando Hierro and Ronaldo Nazario who are expected to attend the celebration with their respective partners.
It is anticipated that former Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas will make it but his attendance is unconfirmed following his recent heart attack which led to him being hospitalized in Portugal.
Although the venue for the wedding is in Ramos’ hometown, locals will find it hard to get close on Saturday, with speculations that a security firm has been hired to monitor the couple’s big day.
