Two decades later, no hip-life collection could possibly match up to it in terms of insight and ingenuity; and it is only befitting that it be punishable by law if there’s ever talk of another rap album surpassing the greatness of that 1999 knockout, ‘Pae Mu Ka’.
A brainchild of the legendary Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko, known in the showbiz fraternity as, Obrafour, the ten-track album caused a sensation in the entertainment circles, and indisputably shot the artiste into prominence as Ghanaian bopped to songs off that masterpiece like Yaanom, Kwame Nkrumah, Agoro No Aso, and Konkonsa.
Unlike the hundreds of albums that were released by other artistes only for them to fizzle into oblivion just a months or two later, Obrafour’s work has proved timeless; and Ghanaians could not hide their excitement as they toasted the album’s twenty-year existence on social media today.
A host of stars including Sarkodie, Pappy Kojo, and Manifest payed homage to the 41-year-old rapper on Twitter via the hashtag #PaeMukaAt20, with fans joining in to wax lyrical on the artiste for the quality of the album.
With Ghanaians rolling back to the days when The Executioner had them spellbound by his lyrical prowess and highly engaging philosophies, we have selected some of the best tweets to commemorate the album.
