World football great, Pele, has returned to his native, Brazil, after being hospitalized for five days due to a severe urinary infection he suffered while in France for a promotional event with Kylian Mbappe.
The 78-year-old, who was taken in for emergency operation at the American Hospital of Paris last Wednesday, was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and has now touched down in Sao Paolo.

Mobbed by media personnel, caretakers, and scores of fans at the Guarulhos International Airport, the three-time world cup winner arrived in a wheelchair, and obviously looked frayed by the surgery and long trip from western Europe.

Although Pele had stated in an earlier statement that he would return to his homeland “ready to work again”, it remains unclear if he would continue his recovery at home or in a hospital in Sao Paulo.
While in the French capital however, the legendary footballer was visited by his young pal and protege, Neymar; and a snap shared by the PSG star revealed Pele in seemingly high spirits after the surgery.

Pele has endured a number of health issues in the last few years, and has been frequently hospitalized for kidney and prostate procedures, as well as problems with his hips and knees.
