The Blues’ talisman lit up the summer’s Mundial in Russia, and following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus, it was anticipated that Eden Hazard would seal his dream move to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Belgian however decided to continue at West London- where he’s been in startling form since the start of the season- and his brother, Thorgan Hazard has lauded the decision.
Now with Real Madrid rather surprisingly looking a pale shadow of the team that conquered Europe last season, Thorgan believes his brother was justified for staying put at the Bridge with the club still unbeaten.
Thorgan, who plays in the Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach, told HLN that ‘Eden made the right decision to stay at Chelsea.
‘Chelsea weren’t keen on selling him and he had a strong start to the season.
‘Real are in a complex period. They sacked their manager, key players left. They have to rebuild.’
Thorgan also offered Blues’ supporters a bit of solace, at least for a while, adding: ‘I think Eden will see what happens at the end of the season. I know him. He’s not thinking about a move right now.
‘He will give everything for Chelsea. He doesn’t want a clash with his club either. If he ever leaves, he will play it correctly.’
Hazard’s commitment to Chelsea formally ends in 2020, and the club has so far been unsuccessful in trying to tie him down to a £300,000 a week new deal.
His unwillingness to pen a new deal with the club has put them in great dilemma, and has been perceived by some as an unspoken signal that he wants to continue elsewhere.
