Is another dancehall artiste about to rock the music scene? His name is O’lay Original.
Formerly known as Flame, O’lay Original is not a stranger to the music circles. He has been a songwriter and performing artiste for years, performing a wide range of music genres. In his music career, he has worked with some top music producers in Ghana such as Ubeatz, Linkin Beats, Bingy Blaze, Mystrs and 10 Minitz.
But one needs fortitude in one or a few areas even though being a ‘jack of all’ is not so bad. So O’lay Original is focused on dancehall music. His newest track “Majesty”, promises to be quite a banger.
Ghanaian music artistes in the contested turf of dancehall music will be sure to provide him some contest but probably not enough to drown out his voice. O’lay Original is a little used to the esteemed company of big guns in the game. Back in the day, somewhere around 2004, he joined a music group known as “Underground”. Unfortunately, the group split in a short while but on good terms. Other members of the group were Nketiah Music, Spawn and guess who …
Shatta Wale (then known as Bandana).
If new entrants have anything to fear from the current array of dancehall artistes in Ghana, O’lay Original will not be intimidated so easily.
As a performing artiste, he has featured on several soundtracks with Ghanaian artistes both as Flame (his old name) and O’lay Original. He was featured on Tic Tac’s The Tenth Day album launched around 2008. He has also collaborated with music artistes such as Tinny, Gasmilla, Screw Face, Rashid Metal and Kwame B of Kasapa FM.
O’lay Original, real name Benjamin Quarshie, is an old boy of Labone Senior High School and loves music both as a profession and as his hobby, his other hobbies being watching movies and watching football.
